Welcome to ED3X Contest Station

ED3X is one of the oldest Contest Stations in Spain. The adventure started in 1999. EA3IN and EA3QP were searching for a quiet site to build a modest contest station and they found an old farmhouse in Rajadell (in the center of EA3 land), in the middle of nowhere with good electricity, no noise, and 570 m asl.

The first contest from ED3X, with a very simple and rudimentary setup, was CQWW SSB in 2000.

    • EA3QP en 10m monoband
    • EA3IN en 15m monoband

The feelings and results were good enough to start, with a limited budget, ED3X contest station.

In 2025 we have celebrated our 25th Anniversary as a Contest Station. Take a look here at the celebration.

During these years, we have participated in different Contest with our own callsigns or M/S and M/2 with the following callings:

    • ED3SSB
    • AM3SSB
    • ED3X (from 2011)

The Station has been changing and progressing over the years, following the evolutions of the contest technologies and layouts.

The initial design was towers and masts with different monoband to arrive at a simple design based on multiband antennas, multiplexers, and filters.

The objective is to reduce as minimum as possible the maintenance and effort to set up the station for a contest over the years.

Now, it’s easy to set up the station for a contest and it’s accessible remotely.

The rotators are connected to the servers, switches, and StackMatch are managed by IntelliSwitch, and all the devices can be managed from a Node-Red Dashboard.
